With safety and fairness credentials well established, today’s Unibet review will focus on the actual experience with the goal being to help players decide if this is the right betting site for them.

Unibet Sports Betting Review

Unibet specializes in sports betting and this is evidenced by a wide variety of sports ranging from the mainstream to the obscure. The front page of the sportsbook presents a list of about 35 sports along the left side of the screen. Choosing any individual sport will take users to a list of all open markets within that sport.

Customers may select one of the larger sports (such as football) to drill down into specific leagues and a list of in-play events, upcoming events and popular matches. On an average day, it is not uncommon to find upwards of 15,000 football wagers to choose from plus thousands of options for other sports.

Selecting an individual match will bring up a full list of open markets for that event. Some of the larger matches may provide as many as 250 unique wagers that run the gamut from standard bets on who will win and point totals to half time scores, player cards, player props, corners, scorecasts, wagers on other stats and more.

Unibet Sportsbook places such an emphasis on football that other sports can feel neglected by comparison. Still, customers will find several thousand wagers for other sports on a typical day.

Unibet has some of the best odds online when it comes to football while other sports can be considered about average in terms of value that can be found.

In-Play Betting and Live Streaming

Both in-play betting and live video streaming are supported by Unibet. The number of in-play options available each day is above average. A quick look at the calendar will usually show more than a hundred in-play events open for wagering on any single day.

Unibet TV offers live video streams for sports and horse races around the world. It is not uncommon to find more 30 or more matches per day streamed live at Unibet.com.

One area in which Unibet stands above the competition is in the quality of matches streamed live. Unibet provides live video for standard sports such as football, tennis and golf, but also streams high-profile games in the USA for baseball and football (MLS).

Unibet customers can watch live sports streams for free if they have an account balance or have placed a wager within the last 24 hours. Horse racing video is unlocked for customers who place a minimum bet of £1 (or currency equivalent) on a race on that card.

For sports that are not covered with live streams, Unibet provides live scoring data on all other in-play betting events. This includes virtual stat displays that depict the field or court with real-time updates showing where the action is, who’s on offense and so on.

Statistics Database

Unibet.com offers an extensive stats database that covers all the major teams and sports of the world. This feature serves as a handy quick reference guide with customers able to see recent results and form, compare teams head-to-head and view stats showing how any two teams’ last meeting went.

Unibet Horse Racing Betting and Greyhounds

Unibet offers a horse and greyhound betting as a part of its larger sports betting platform. The racebook here is extensive in its coverage of tracks from around the world but navigation is still a bit clumsy, particularly when looking for specific tracks.

Selecting “racing” from the main navigation menu will bring up a quick picture of all upcoming races. This area offers a quick view of races that will be starting soon along with options to quickly place bets on highlighted races without having to navigate any further.

Selecting an upcoming race will customers the racecard for that event. From there, users may click through for stats on horses and jockeys, recent form information and view a short preview of the race.

Horse Racing Wagers at Unibet

Unibet horse racing customers can choose between taking the SP and price, with a best odds guarantee offered on all UK and Irish horse races. This means if customers take the price and the horse goes off at a higher SP, they will be paid at the higher price. Other types of wagers such as forecasts, tricasts and each-way bets are also available.

The horse racing platform is fairly standard overall, but one thing that does stand out is Unibet frequently offers horse racing specials not often seen elsewhere. In some races, special markets such as the winning distance, winning jockey and so on are offered to provide a little variety that isn’t often offered by other online bookmakers.

Live Racing Video

Races listed in the main betting area with a monitor icon offer live streaming video for customers who place a wager on that race. Unibet streams are fast and include live commentary straight from the track. Major races such as the Grand National and Kentucky Derby are included among the live viewing options.

Navigation

Navigation is the area in which Unibet’s horse racing platform has the most room for improvement. The front racing page is fine for betting on the day’s biggest races, but it can tough to find ante-post wagers for major events or for looking up specific tracks.

Greyhound Betting

Greyhound betting at Unibet is organized in a similar manner to horse racing. Choosing “greyhounds” from the sports menu brings up a list of the day’s races, and from there you can select any individual race to pick winners or to place forecasts and tricasts. The biggest difference between horse and dog racing at Unibet is they do not offer live racing video for greyhound races.

Online Casino

Unibet Casino has nearly tripled its total game selection since we originally published this review. Currently, the casino provides north of 1,000 slots, table games and live dealer games provided by a multitude of software developers.

The casino lobby offers a handful of sort options to help gamblers find the types of games they enjoy. From the main casino lobby, users can view lists of progressives, exclusives, video poker games, table games, megaways, slingo and more. A search tool allows players to jump straight to their favorite games.

Navigation would get a perfect score but one big miss here is the lack of an ability to sort games by software provider. It would be nice, for example, if it was possible to view all NetEnt games or all Microgaming games.

Game Selection and Jackpots

The casino game lineup at Unibet consist of nearly a thousand slots provided by numerous software developers plus dozens of table games, video poker games, specialty games and progressive jackpot games. A separate live dealer area offers dozens of additional games staffed by human dealers who take wagers and interact with players via streaming video.

Everything discussed so far is pretty standard for a betting site as large as Unibet.com. One thing the casino does to differentiate itself is its frequent hosting of casino tournaments. It is tough to find casino tournaments online these days, but Unibet is actually pretty active in this regard.

Unibet Casino hosts multiple slots and blackjack tournaments every month in addition to live dealer tournaments for blackjack, roulette and Casino Holdem with prize pools that regularly reach or exceed £25,000.

Live Dealer Games

Players can head over to the “live casino” tab to visit the live dealer lobby, which is populated with dozens of tables. Evolution Gaming and NetEnt power the live dealer games and together provide a significant amount of variety.

Standard table games such as blackjack and baccarat are offered here as well as game-show style games such as Monopoly Live and Deal or No Deal Live.

Betting limits in the live dealer area vary by game, but customers will find some games with minimum wagers as low as £0.10 and maximum wagers that goes as high as an eye-watering £200,000.

Unibet Poker

Unibet is one of the only all-one-gambling sites whose poker room is completely independent and not a member of any other network. The poker software was designed in-house, and Unibet Poker shares no players with other poker sites.

Unibet Poker specifically caters to recreational players, which can be a good or bad thing depending on one’s needs. Lighthearted graphics and frequent missions keep things casual and relaxed while a ban on heads-up display software strives to prevent sharks from bleeding casual players dry.

Strengths

The competition here is very soft in comparison to other poker sites of this size. As a standalone poker site, Unibet does not have thousands of players pouring in from other operators who may be quite skilled. The majority of the people who sign up at Unibet come for the sports or casino and happen to wander into the poker room. As a result, the games here are much softer than average.

Unibet does not support third party software. Some may view this as a good thing because the inability to run poker tracking software discourages grinders and other skilled players from coming in and ruining the games with tight-aggressive play. On the negative side, the lack of software is annoying for those who do enjoy multi-tabling and who treat poker more like a job.

The software itself is actually well-designed for a platform that was designed without any outside help. Players may download the software to play from PC or Mac, play online instantly with no download necessary or get the official mobile poker app for iOS/Android devices.

Weaknesses

The player pool is quite a bit smaller than what one would expect for a gaming operator that boasts 25 million registered players. However, the software does a pretty decent job of focusing people onto just a few game types. Players will find multiple tables running at any time at stakes ranging from €0.02/€0.04 to as high as €2/€4.

This leads to the next weak point: limited game selection. Unibet.com Poker does not offer much by way of game variety. They host Texas Holdem, Omaha and Banzai (Unibet’s version of fast-fold poker). These games are all hosted in the no-limit/pot-limit format with not a single fixed limit table to be found. The stakes are also limited, with the highest games maxing out at €2/€4 no-limit (€400 buyin).

Players are also prevented from practicing any table selection at all. Joining a poker table involves opening the lobby, choosing one’s preferred stakes/game type and waiting for the software to choose a table. All players are randomly assigned seats in an effort to dissuade sharks from specifically targeting casual players.

SNGS and Tournaments

The SNG and tournament selection is similarly limited. Unibet does not have a strong tournament scene owing to its small player base. On a more positive note, the site does a good job targeting its players to just a few tournament types so players don’t have to sit around all day waiting for tables to fill.

SNGs run at buyins ranging from €1 to €100, but with only heads-up and five person tables available. Users will not find high stakes SNGs or multi-table SNGs. Standard scheduled tournaments are hosted every day but again, the selection is limited. Unibet does not often host large, €1,000,000 guaranteed events.

However, the Unibet Open does offer players something to aim for twice a year. Each summer and winter, the €1,000 buyin Unibet Open is hosted in a different European location while Unibet.com hosts satellites all year long. Players who win a seat are given accommodations, free tournament entry and spending money for travel.

Bingo

Unibet Bingo hosts 75-ball and 90-ball games in a variety of variations that will be recognizable to anyone with online bingo experience. Inside the bingo area, players will find standard games with inexpensive cards, Deal or No Deal variants, 1TG/2TG games and BOGOF games.

Based on propriety software, Unibet Bingo operates as a standalone bingo site with its own take on the game. Average prize pools are on the low side with £20 to £500 being the norm during the day, but progressive jackpots that can exceed £100,000 still give players something bigger to shoot for.

Additional features include chat games, the last chance saloon and) and roll-on bingo with additional full house prizes to increase players’ chances of winning even if they don’t hit the main jackpot.

Like most bingo sites, Unibet Bingo includes integrated slot machine and scratch cards that players can access between or during games without leaving the main bingo lobby. In summary, the bingo room at Unibet is larger than most, offers some impressive jackpots and is easy to use. It doesn’t really stand out in any way over competing sites, but it offers just one more option for anyone who likes to mix it up.
