Jordan
Gambling in all forms is illegal in Jordan, prohibited under the Penal Code (Articles 393-396) consistent with Islamic Sharia, with no licensing regime and no policy change anticipated as of 2026. The only state-sanctioned activity resembling gambling is the charitable Charity Welfare Lottery. Sports betting, horse-race betting and prediction markets are all prohibited.
As a Muslim-majority country applying Islamic Sharia principles, Jordan prohibits gambling entirely under its Penal Code, criminalizing both operating gambling businesses (Arts. 393-394) and participating as a player (Art. 395), with penalties up to roughly three months’ imprisonment and/or fines. There is no betting on horse racing or any other sport; Jordan has no domestic tote/pari-mutuel system or licensed sportsbooks, and offshore betting platforms remain illegal for residents.
Authorities can block gambling domains and payment routes via the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC), with enforcement focused on operators rather than individual players. As of 2025-2026 there is no licensing regime, no dedicated gambling regulator and no indication of legalization. The only legal activity resembling gambling is the state-overseen Charity Welfare Lottery run for charitable purposes.
Prediction markets are not separately regulated and fall under the general prohibition. There is no legal gambling and therefore no statutory betting age.
Online sports betting is prohibited in Jordan, so no operators are listed for this market.
Support in Jordan
Gambling is prohibited in Jordan under Islamic law; there are no licensed operators and no national gambling-addiction helpline. If you or someone you know is struggling, treat it as a mental-health concern: in an emergency call 911. Jordan's Ministry of Health, with WHO support, provides mental-health and psychosocial support through public clinics — contact the Ministry of Health or your nearest health centre for the current support line. There is no self-exclusion scheme because licensed gambling does not exist. For confidential help in any language, contact Gambling Therapy (gamblingtherapy.org).
