About Polymarket
Who Runs Polymarket
Polymarket is one brand over two different arrangements. The facts panel on this page gives the parent as Blockratize, Inc. The entity the Commodity Futures Trading Commission designated as a contract market is a different company: QCX LLC, which the register records as "now operating under the assumed name of Polymarket US". Its clearing is done by QC Clearing LLC, trading as Polymarket Clearing.
Where Polymarket Is Regulated
The CFTC's register records QCX LLC d/b/a Polymarket US as a designated contract market with the status "Designated" and a date of 07/09/2025. QC Clearing LLC d/b/a Polymarket Clearing was registered as a derivatives clearing organisation on 12/16/2024, "permitted to clear fully collateralized positions in futures contracts, options on futures contracts, and swaps". Fully collateralised means a position has to be backed in full rather than margined, so a trader cannot lose more than they put up.
Two Sites, and Which One a Reader Gets
Polymarket runs the regulated US exchange at a different address from its original platform. Its terms state that "Trading is blocked in the United States on polymarket.com", and point United States users to polymarket.us instead. A reader therefore needs to know which of the two they are on, because only one of them is the CFTC-designated venue described above.
Funding an Account
Every deposit method recorded for Polymarket on this site is a cryptocurrency: the dollar stablecoin USD Coin, Ethereum and Bitcoin. There is no card or bank option on the record here. A transfer of any of the three settles on a public ledger, so it cannot be reversed and there is no chargeback, and the two that are not dollar-pegged are worth whatever the coin is worth when the position is closed.
Where Polymarket Is Available
This site records three availability rows for Polymarket: Peru accepts customers, and Argentina and the United Kingdom are recorded as not available. Those are the markets this site has checked rather than the full list, and the operator's own terms govern eligibility.
Verdict
Polymarket is now two things under one name: an original platform that blocks United States trading, and a CFTC-designated exchange with its own registered clearing house serving it. For a reader the practical consequence is that the protections described here attach to the regulated venue and not to the brand as a whole, and that a position on it has to be collateralised in full — a trader cannot owe more than they staked. Which address a reader reaches, and therefore which set of rules applies, depends on where they are.
