FanDuel Sportsbook is a US online sportsbook owned by Flutter Entertainment, offering sports wagering across regulated US states and Ontario, plus horse-racing betting and a prediction-market product.
Who Runs FanDuel
FanDuel belongs to Flutter Entertainment plc, which files with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Flutter states in its 2025 annual report that its US segment offers sports betting, horse-racing wagering and prediction-market products to players across various states, mainly online but with sports betting also provided through a small number of retail outlets, and certain online products in Ontario. The FanDuel app in the US App Store is published by FanDuel Limited.
Prediction Markets, and Why They Are Not Betting
Flutter says in the same filing that FanDuel is also expanding into the newly emerging prediction markets space in the United States. A prediction market is not a sportsbook: the customer buys a contract on an outcome at a price set by other customers rather than taking a price from a bookmaker. The regulator is different too — FanDuel's own listing describes the product as offered by a registered futures commission merchant, which is a federal commodities registration rather than a state gambling licence. That is why a prediction market can be available where sports betting is not.
Where FanDuel Is Available
Availability is decided state by state, because there is no national betting licence in the United States, and Flutter states the position precisely: as of 31 December 2025 the FanDuel online sportsbook was available in 25 states or territories. The prediction-market product runs on a different footing — the listing says FanDuel Predicts is offered by FanDuel Prediction Markets LLC, a registered futures commission merchant, and valid in eighteen named states, several of which do not permit sports betting at all.
