This is a company that plays by the rules to such an extent that is has been awarded licenses by all of the world’s most demanding regulatory authorities. Unibet has also managed to snag a few awards along the way. It was declared the “sportsbook operator of the year” at the IGA Awards in 2014/2015 and “in-play sports of the year” in 2015. Now that we have established Unibet’s credentials, the only question that remains is if this is the right online betting site for you. Read on for my full, uncut Unibet review.

Sports Betting Review

Unibet specializes in sports betting and this is evidenced by a wide variety of sports ranging from the mainstream to the obscure. The front page of the sportsbook presents a list of about 35 sports along the left side of the screen. Choosing any individual sport will take you to a list of all open markets within that sport.

If you select one of the larger sports (such as football), you can drill down into specific leagues and competitions for an easier time finding exactly what you want. This is especially useful for football, because Unibet offers extensive football betting options. When I last logged in, the website had more than 16,000 open football wagers.

On any given day, Unibet has upwards of 20,000 open markets spread across all sports. Selecting an individual match will bring up a list of even more markets. Some of the larger matches (especially in football) provide as many of 250 different wagers on that one match alone. These include standard bets on who will win as well as point totals, half time scores, half time outcomes, player cards, player props, corners, scorecasts, wagers on match stats and more.

Unibet clearly places an emphasis on football, and I am quick to recommend it to anyone who also shares a passion for the sport. Other sports at Unibet feel somewhat neglected by comparison, although you will still find a couple thousand open wagers in other events. However, it is football that receives the lion’s share of the attention at Unibet.

Odds

Unibet is home to some of the best football odds on the internet, while its other sports I would consider about average. This is definitely a football handicapper’s book but it would still be smart to shop around between Unibet and other books as I always recommend. For the most part, you’ll find Unibet to at least be competitive with what you’ll find anywhere else.

In-Play Betting and Live Streaming

Both in-play betting and live video streaming are supported by Unibet. The number of in-play options available each day is impressive. A quick look at the calendar will show you that Unibet often covers more than 100 games per day with real time wagering.

Unibet TV is available for anyone with an account and provides live video streams for sports around the world. It’s not uncommon to see 30 or more matches per day streamed live at the Unibet website. One thing I found especially appealing at Unibet compared to other bookmakers is its international coverage of events. The live streaming video at Unibet covers all the standard sports such as football, tennis and golf, but even high profile games in the USA for baseball and football (MLS).

If you want to keep up to date on any match that isn’t available for live streaming, you can visit the “live score” link at the top of the page for up to date scores, odds and betting market information.

Unibet Horse Racing Betting and Greyhounds

Unibet offers a simple and easy-to-use dog and horse racing betting product as a part of its larger sportsbook. The racebook here is solid, but it does have its strengths and weaknesses. We’ll start with the strengths and then cover a couple areas that I believe could use some improvement.

On the positive side, Unibet horse racing betting is very easy to use. If you select “horse racing” or “greyhounds” from the sports betting menu, Unibet will bring up a quick picture of all upcoming races. This area offers a quick view of what’s coming up soon and will let you jump straight to available racing markets without having to hunt all around the website looking for some action.

Select any individual race and you’ll go to that race’s main betting area where you can select any horse to win the race outright. In some cases you can choose between the fixed-odds price and starting price, and in others you will only be given the option to take the SP. Scroll down a little ways on any race’s betting page and you’ll see other markets such as forecasts, tricasts and specials (if available).

One thing Unibet does well is offer a variety of specials that you don’t see often for select races. In some races, specials markets are offered with options such as the winning distance, winning jockey and so on with odds tailored to the likelihood of each outcome. These “other” wagers offer a little variety that isn’t often offered by other online bookmakers.

One other advantage offered by Unibet is free, live racing video. It costs nothing to watch many of the races in real time, but you do have to place at least a minimum bet on that race to watch the stream. Almost any time you place a bet on a horse race at Unibet, you will be able to watch the race play out if you choose to do so.

One of the biggest downsides is the horse racing platform does not have the most intuitive navigation when it comes to finding races other than those happening today. The front racing page is great for betting on today’s races, but I had a little trouble finding the futures or finding specific tracks. Select the “all races” option from the top menu inside the racing area and then you’ll see the bigger meets/festivals listed alongside other upcoming daily races.

One other issue with navigation is there seems to be no complete listing of all tracks covered by Unibet. If any particular track isn’t hosting a race, you simply won’t see it listed anywhere. This can be difficult if you have a certain race in mind, but are then unable to find that track on the Unibet website to see if that particular track is even hosting races covered by Unibet.

Overall, the Unibet horse racing platform is a solid choice for casual horse racing betting. I was unable to find much by way of advanced wagers, statistics or horse racing analyses, so this wouldn’t be my first recommendation for people who are deep into horse racing. However, the platform is fine for people who like to bet on other sports and occasionally have a flutter on the races.

Greyhound betting at Unibet is organized in a similar manner to horse racing. Choosing “greyhounds” from the sports menu brings up a list of the day’s races, and from there you can select any individual race to pick winners or to place forecasts and tricasts. The biggest difference between horse and dog racing at Unibet is they do not offer live racing video for greyhound races.

Online Casino

Although Unibet may have an emphasis on sports betting, casino players are by no means neglected. With more than 400 games available online with no download or by numerous mobile apps, this is a well-rounded casino site that has no problem competing with the biggest players in online gambling.

Game Selection and Jackpots

The casino games at Unibet consist of several hundred slot machines provided by numerous software developers, plus dozens of table games, video poker games, specialty games and progressive jackpot games. If you have a certain game type in mind, you can sort the casino area by type and by jackpot.

And speaking of jackpots, there are multiple progressive jackpot games in the casino with top prizes ranging from a low of £4,000 to as high as £6,000,000+. A few years back, one Unibet member managed to score a €4.5 million jackpot playing Mega Fortune.

Casino Tournaments

Everything discussed so far is pretty standard for a betting site as large as Unibet.com. One thing the casino does to differentiate itself is its frequent hosting of casino tournaments. It’s tough to find casino tournaments online these days, but Unibet is actually pretty active in this regard.

They host multiple slots and blackjack tournaments every month in addition to live dealer tournaments for blackjack, roulette and casino Holdem with prize pools in the range of £3,500. The weekly tournament schedule hosts multiple tournaments every day, with the games of choice representing a different them each day:

  • Monday’s Movies: Scarface, Aliens, Jurassic Park and the Dark Knight Rises
  • Tuesdays Animals: Gorilla Go Wild, Raging Rhino, Foxin’ Wins and Big Bad Wolf
  • Wednesday Irish: Rainbow Riches, Leprechaun Goes Egypt, Irish Eyes and Leprechaun’s Luck
  • Thursday TV: South Park, Game of Thrones and Who Wants to be a Millionaire
  • Friday Exclusives: Troll Hunters, Hit2Split, Rage to Riches and Ragnarok
  • Saturday Table Games: Live Dealer Blackjack, Live Dealer Roulette, European Roulette and Multihand Blackjack
  • Sunday Classics: Starburst, Gonzo’s Quest, Mega Fortune Dreams and Twin Spin

Live Dealer Games

Head over to the “live casino” tab at the top of the Unibet website to visit the live dealer lobby. Here, you’ll find the Casino Grande and the Casino Royale. Casino Grande hosts the greater variety of games, with variable betting limits ranging from £0.50 to as high as £20,000 per round. Casino Grande offers live roulette, blackjack, casino Holdem, baccarat and 3 card poker.

Casino Royale is limited in game selection (only roulette and blackjack), but it makes up for that with HD video feeds and betting limits that range from £1 to £75,000 per hand. Each game type does have about a dozen dealers operating at any given time, so you won’t have any trouble finding an open seat.

I found Casino Grande to be about average in terms of quality and game selection when compared to other online casinos. However, Casino Royale was definitely of a higher calibre in comparison to other casino sites. If you don’t mind being limited to blackjack and roulette, I can recommend Casino Royale.

Unibet Poker

Unibet is one of the only all-one-gambling sites whose poker room is completely independent and not a member of any other network. The poker software was designed in-house and Unibet Poker shares no players with other poker sites. Everyone you meet at the tables is a member of Unibet. With that said, the poker offering at Unibet has some major strengths and glaring weaknesses. Let’s talk about both.

Strengths

The competition here is very soft in comparison to other poker sites of this size. As a standalone poker site, Unibet does not have thousands of players pouring in from other operators who may be quite skilled. The majority of the people who sign up at Unibet come for the sports or casino and happen to wander into the poker room. As a result, the games here are much softer than average.

Unibet does not support third party software, so this may be a strength or weakness depending on your perspective. It’s a good thing because the inability to run poker tracking software discourages grinders and other skilled players from coming in and ruining the games with tight-aggressive play. On the negative side, the lack of software is annoying if you like to multi-table and treat poker as a job.

Another positive point is the software is completely unique. It’s actually quite well-designed for something that they developed without any outside help. You can download the software on your PC or Mac and even download an app on the app store for the full mobile experience. The graphics are different than what you may be used to with small tables, cartoonish player avatars and easy-to-see cards. Some people have complained about the graphics, but I found them refreshing and easy on the eyes.

Weaknesses

The player pool is quite a bit smaller than what you would expect for a gaming site that boasts 10 million registered players. However, the software does a pretty decent job of focusing people onto just a few game types. You will find multiple tables running at any time at stakes ranging from €0.02/€0.04 to as high as €2/€4.

This leads to the next weak point: limited game selection. Unibet.com Poker does not offer much by way of game variety. They host Texas Holdem, Omaha and Banzai (Unibet’s version of fast-fold poker). These games are all hosted in the no-limit/pot-limit format with not a single fixed limit table to be found. The stakes are also limited, with the highest games maxing out at €2/€4 no-limit (€400 buyin).

SNGS and Tournaments

The SNG and tournament selection is similarly limited. Unibet does not have a strong tournament scene owing to its small player base. On a more positive note, the site does a good job targeting its players to just a few tournament types so you won’t have to sit around all day waiting for tables to fill.

SNGs run at buyins ranging from €1 to €100, but with only heads-up and five person tables available. You will not find high stakes SNGs or multi-table SNGs here. Standard scheduled tournaments are hosted every day but again, the selection is limited. Unibet does not host large, €1,000,000 guaranteed events like you see at other, larger poker sites.

Overall Thoughts

Overall, Unibet Poker does the best it can for the small player base. Game variety is lacking, but the games it does hold are always fairly busy. The software looks nice, runs well and is compatible with most operating systems. This is an ideal poker site for casual players and not the best option for high volume grinders.

Bingo

Unibet Bingo hosts 75-ball and 90-ball games in a variety of variations that will be recognizable to anyone with online bingo experience. Inside the bingo area, you’ll find standard games with inexpensive cards, Deal or No Deal variants, 1TG/2TG games and BOGOF games. As a member of the Virtue Fusion bingo network, Unibet hosts the every popular “monster jackpot” progressive games that award prizes as high as €300,000 or more for anyone lucky enough to hit a full house within a certain number of calls.

The games are all accessed in your web browser with no download necessary. This makes Unibet Bingo compatible with PCs, Macs and any other operating system. They also have mobile apps that can keep you in the games on the go. The bingo lobby is fairly straightforward with your cards displayed on one side of the screen and a chat screen displayed along the other side.

Additional features include chat games, the last chance saloon (get a free scratch card if at least 1 strip of tickets doesn’t win) and roll-on bingo with additional full house prizes to increase your chances of winning even if you don’t hit the main jackpot.

Like most bingo sites, Unibet Bingo includes integrated slot machine and scratch cards that you can play between or during games without leaving the main bingo lobby. These additional games serve as a handy distraction if the calls aren’t going your way, but it’s easy to get carried away.

In summary, the bingo room at Unibet is larger than most, offers some impressive jackpots and is easy to use. It doesn’t really stand out in any way over competing sites, but it offers just one more option for anyone who likes to mix it up. One account with Unibet will provide you access to bingo, sports betting, casino and poker. It’s nice to have that many options with a single player account.
