Licence

RaceBets is a horse racing bookmaker run by RaceBets International Gaming Limited, a company based in Malta.

• Ireland: Revenue's register of licensed remote bookmaking operations (at 30 June 2026) lists RaceBets International Gaming Limited, trading as www.racebets.com, with a Remote Bookmaker's Licence, reference 1010277. The register gives no expiry date (Revenue register, read 5 November 2026).
• Germany: The joint official whitelist of German regulators (version dated 12 April 2024) lists RaceBets International Gaming Limited for online horse betting under section 27(2) of the 2021 Interstate Treaty on Gambling. The domain is racebets.de and the first permit date is 26 August 2015 (GGL whitelist PDF, read 5 November 2026). Betsson said in 2016 that the German regulator was the Regional Council of Darmstadt.

When Betsson agreed to buy RaceBets in December 2016, it said the company held licences in the UK, Ireland, Malta and Germany, with the Malta Gaming Authority among its regulators. RaceBets had received a full UK Gambling Commission remote licence from 10 August 2015.

Who Runs RaceBets

The Irish register gives the company's address as Dragonara Business Centre, Dragonara Road, St Julian's, Malta. RaceBets was founded in 2005. Betsson AB announced on 7 December 2016 that it would buy RaceBets for EUR 34 million in cash, plus up to EUR 6 million more if targets were met. At that time RaceBets had 60 staff. Betsson described it as the leading horse racing bookmaker in Germany. It said about 75% of revenue came from locally regulated markets, mainly Germany and the UK.

RaceBets had covered UK and Irish racing since 2012. In September 2015 trade press reported RaceBets as the first bookmaker to receive a German horse betting licence under the rules introduced in 2012. Betsson's 2025 annual report still lists Racebets as a group brand offering a single product, betting on horses.

What You Can Bet On

RaceBets is a racing-only brand. In 2016 Betsson said it covered more than 250,000 races a year. A 2019 trade report listed racing from the UK, Ireland, Australia, France, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, the USA, Germany and Sweden. The same report said RaceBets had added Colossus Bets jackpot pools to its daily race-day coupons.

How to Bet

RaceBets takes bets online at racebets.com and, for Germany, racebets.de. Visitors from countries where it does not operate, including the United States, see a notice on racebets.com that the site is not available "due to the new laws governing online games" in their country.
